Do not abandon your pet, he is your beloved family member.

He sat by the road
hours passed so slow,
tired and hungry
and all alone,
and no other place to go.

Though his family left him by the road,
but he is thinking,
he is lost from them,
he is not walking as
he is still thinking,
they must be searching for him.

Slowly as time is passing,
now is fearing with setting sun,
he is scared now
but still patiently waiting .

Dusk has come
still he is thinking
he is lost from his family
they will come.

Dawn appears,
he is tired, lies there
shivering in cold,
he is hungry
his throat is parched and dry.

Now cheeks are wet
with his tearsTears
but still he is waiting.

Hours pass and came another day
he wants to move
but is afraid
for if he will move
and his family will come
for searching him

Who will make him understand
do not wait child
your family will not appear
you are not lost
but they dumped you

No one will know your pain
no one from your family will come
you will starve to death
along the road
so hungry, so thin,
but still waiting.

You are confused
you want to ask
with tears in your eyes.

That what you have done wrong
you always loved your family
why they will leave you alone to die.

Your unconditional love
still can not understand.
Still you trust them
that your family loves you
will come to take you home.

So child, you are waiting
and will be waiting till you die
but your family will not return.

Dear Animal Lovers,

If you have pets at home, i hope you love them and continue taking care of these sweet beings. However, if for whatever reason in future, please do not dump, abandon your them.
Pets are emotional beings and can not imagine staying away from their families. The feeling of being abandoned often kills many. They are your beloved  family members. Accept them with your heart and love. You are only the world for their lives. Come what may, never abandon your pet.

Hence Godforbid, do not let your beloved family member live and die in such, loneliness and despair.

To The World You May Be Just One Person, But One Life You May Be The World.

Stray Adoption Criterion

I have been actively involved with the stray animal cause since the last few years.

Earlier this year, I started using Facebook to reach a wider audience and share knowledge with other animal lovers. Today, I work as an independent animal lover and help strays to get adopted.

As time has gone by, I have come to follow a certain set of rules on adoptions.  I share these with you -
  1. An initial phone call followed by screening of the adoptive family. Here I try to sense the comfort of the family with pets and willingness to add a new member to the home. Only when all family members are ready to adopt, do I get ahead with the process
  2. As a rule, only families who will keep the pet at home are entertained. Keeping the pet in compound/garden/residential premises is not equal to adopting
  3. Preference to families over individuals - This ensures that the pup/kitten has someone to look over it at all times
  4. Preference to families who have had prior experience with pets. First time adoptive families are counselled on food habits, dog walks, moods of pets, timely vaccination and consultation from vets
  5. Since I am based out of Mumbai, I prefer working on adoptions in Mumbai and nearby places. This allows me a chance to meet with the adoptive families and gauge their interest levels. However, on Facebook, I help fellow animal lovers from other cities and share adoption updates from various cities on my profile
  6. Neutering of the pet - I ensure that adoptive families get their pets neutered at the appropriate age.
  7. Adoptive family details : I collect ID proof, address and other important details from the adoptive families.
  8. I keep in regular touch with all adoptive families and ask them to share pictures/videos of the pets as they grow
This is largely how I work. However, if you are an animal lover or someone who works with rescued animals, and you have important suggestions for me to follow, please write to me.

If, like me, you also work as an independent worker (not attached with any NGO), please follow the above rules in order to ensure proper care for the strays.
